  • Upload a copy of a valid photo ID. The ID will appear in the adjacent box named “Current Documents” once uploaded
  • Review the application details and confirm and attest to all the statements listed at the end of the application. Afterward, click the “Submit” button
  • Once the psilocybin worker permit application is approved (pending clearance and worker permit fee), the applicant will receive an email to pay worker permit fee
  • Pay the applicable fee online through TLC. Alternatively, an applicant may pay by mail or in person using the remittance form provided by the OPS

Background Check for Oregon Psilocybin Worker Permit

Anyone applying for an Oregon psilocybin worker permit must pass a criminal background check conducted by the OHA Background Check Unit (BCU). The following steps are typically involved in the criminal background check process:

  • After the applicant has applied for a psilocybin worker permit, the OPS will initiate the background check process through the Oregon Criminal History and Abuse Records System (ORCHARDS)
  • The applicant will get an email from ORCHARDS containing a link to review an Authorization Statement. They are expected to answer questions relating to criminal history and authorize the background check to enable BCU to conduct any check
  • Once the applicant agrees to the background check after reviewing the Authorization Statement, they will receive a letter in their email stating how to book an appointment for fingerprinting with a FieldPrint vendor
  • Afterward, the applicant should complete the fingerprints at FieldPrint on the scheduled date
  • BCU will approve or deny the applicant depending on whether the applicant poses a risk or not
